Founder of Smooth Move for Seniors and New Member

Laurie Gunton is the founder of Smooth Move for Seniors. In addition to having three boys, volunteering in the community, and a professional with years of experience in the corporate world, she decided to add entrepreneur to the list!

Laurie created SMFS because she saw that there was a huge need for that extra pair of helping hands, when the decision has been made to move. The elderly, mentally/physically challenged or ill find it extremely challenging. We all do even under the most normal circumstances!  The challenge of knowing they have to cut their contents to under half, can be too much for them. They don’t know where to begin. How to sort, donate, sell, pack are all steps necessary to get the project going and that’s what I will talk about. 

Laurie is backed with over 25 years of work experience, mainly in the print background (Sales, Customer Service and Team Leader), BA in Sociology from York University. She has also met eligibility, education and exam requirements to become a Certified Relocation and Transition Specialist. This certification also requires her to take ongoing seniors courses.

Laurie brings a positive, enthusiastic and compassionate attitude to her work. In her presentation she’ll talk about decluttering, sorting, packing/unpacking, selling and donating. How you can get started now too!
