WHAT'S GOING ON IN ROTARY AND THE NEIGHBOURHOOD - November 15, 2023
There are plenty of ways we can participate in our Club and the Community in the weeks ahead, specifically:
HOLIDAY HOUSE TOUR - SOLD OUT!!
URGENT NEED FOR VOLUNTEERS -
ASK YOUR FRIENDS AND FAMILY
While many community members and Rotarians have signed up to volunteer at the Holiday House Tour, we still need more. Tell your family and friends - it’s a fun event and they would be supporting the community here and internationally by helping with this event. Don’t forget to mention a free pass to the tour on the day they are not volunteering. Contact Greg Fedoryn to sign up.
It's the 24th annual

This year it is called “A Candlelight Christmas at the McArthur Estate”.
Betty Knight and Katie Aeby are looking for volunteers to assist outdoors from 5 PM until 9 PM on either or both evenings. If you have your 'Smart Serve' certification, this would be an added bonus. VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES:
Holiday House Tour
The team is looking for over 300 Volunteers to work a shift at one of the 6 houses on the Dec 1-2 Holiday House Tour. Volunteers are urgently needed for Saturday shifts. If you are interested in participating at this fun event, please contact Greg Fedoryn.
ISC Update:
Progress is being made on the repairs at the Jalawe Maternity Wing
All the rotten/termite eaten wood has been removed, the brick taken back to the window tops and a concrete beam put in. Bricks replaced, and roof trusses installed.
Fixing new planks for roofing. These planks are hardwoods that are not easily eaten up by termites. They will still be treated with solignum in addition to the foundation treatment with Gulf Chrodane.
Construction of terraces is underway as one way of landscaping. The surrounding of the building is also underway. It is really important looking at the terrain of the site. It is too steep a slope inducing heavy runoff that has an impact on the walls of the building but also eroding away the top soil making the premises having gulleys.
Sri Lanka - Prosthetic Limb Project
A 4-year Successful Journey
After a 4 year journey our Global Grant to provide 3D printed lower limb prosthetics to low income countries with a focus on Children came to fruition recently in Sri Lanka. This project helps to provide the gift of mobility so that children and adults can walk, play, avoid pain, avoid stigmatization and not be sentenced to a life of extreme poverty and being a burden on their families. Our club should be proud of our fundraising and support that ultimately led to 15 Rotary clubs contributing across 8 countries.
