WHAT'S GOING ON IN ROTARY AND THE NEIGHBOURHOOD - August 1, 2024
PRESIDENT'S MESSAGE
Welcome to our Rotary New Year!
We are off to a great start. Our lunch meetings in July have been well attended and we are delighted to see some of our long-time members “back in the fold”.
At our Club Assembly on July 23rd, we approved our Strategic Action Plan for the year. As a quick summary, here are the four main elements:
We should ensure that our Club acts as a Rotary Club, consistent with the object of Rotary – service - and its four pillars: membership, programs, projects, and fund raising.
We should ensure that our individual conduct is consistent with the Four-Way Test – each time we recite the test, and in our words, thoughts, and deeds, we should pay attention to the core words – truth, fairness, goodwill and friendship, and beneficial to all.
Our Club is very much back on track and our focus is on service, fellowship, and fun.
We recognize that we have a Club that includes members who work and retirees who are away for significant parts of the year. Luckily, there are many ways to be a member. Please come to our Tuesday luncheon meetings if you are in town and available. Otherwise, get on a committee (or two), participate in fund-raising and other activities, get involved in District activities, and keep reading the newsletter to stay in touch with what is happening – because we are a happening Club!
Thanks to everyone for your support and encouragement. As President, I work with other Board members to serve our Club members. This is your Club. Together, we can do meaningful work, and we will have fun doing it – I look forward to seeing you soon – YIR - Jamie.
p.s. come to the Garden Party on August 6th – bring your spouse, partner, and friend(s) – thanks to Marlene for opening her home.
