WHAT'S GOING ON IN ROTARY AND THE NEIGHBOURHOOD - June 1, 2023

There are plenty of ways we can participate in our Club and the Community in the weeks ahead, specifically:
COFFEE TALKS
The Membership Committee presented the first phase of Coffee Talks with our Members at the May 30 Club Meeting.  Member feedback was summarized into 5 themes: Celebrate with Fun and Fellowship, Strengthen Engagement, Increase Accountability, Improve Communication, and Show More Respect.  Thank you to all members who participated in the valuable and insightful interviews.

SAVE THE DATE - JULY 4TH - ANNUAL CHANGEOVER MEETING
It is our Club’s tradition to start each new Rotary Year with a Social Event that Thanks our Board and The Club for all their efforts in the past year and Welcomes the new Board and Rotary Year.   Details and location to follow.

VOLUNTEERS NEEDED

Newark Neighbours
Hello fellow Rotarians

As I’ve mentioned at our general meetings, Newark Neighbours is excited to report that we are nearing completion of our new store location in Virgil at 1534 Niagara Stone Road. We are currently ordering our store fixtures and finishings such as new clothing racks, new shelving for our food bank and other equipment. Most of this equipment will be delivered to the new store during the week of June 5.

The request: We are looking for a team of volunteers for two separate sets of work.

  1. Assembling sixteen (16) clothing racks and twenty-one (21) sections of shelving, all delivered unassembled in boxes.
I’m not sure what kind of tools and equipment will be required for this assembly. If those volunteers who are able to assist us with this work could meet at the store on Monday June 12 at 9:30 a.m., we could open up the boxes and assess the type and amount of work required.

  1. Constructing five (5) collection bins that will be placed outside the store for donations. We will provide specifications of these bins and will purchase all materials. This work could be done off-site or on-site, depending on the number of volunteers who can do this and where it makes the most sense to do this work.  They will be just basic boxes with lids, very similar to the ones we currently have outside the John Street store.

If you are available to assist us with either of these pieces of work, please send an email to me at grantcis347@gmail.com as soon as possible. As always, our team at Newark Neighbours appreciates Rotary’s efforts and are very grateful for your on-going support.

Thank you in advance.
