About

In light of the new provincial COVID-19 restrictions, The Rotary Club of Niagara-on-the-Lake has found a unique way to bring this fall’s charity fundraisers directly to its members.  Now you can participate in an online wine tasting event from the comfort of your home!

The Rotary Club is excited to present our “Virtual Wine Tasting Tour”.  This is a four-part event being held every Tuesday in October, commencing October 6th, 2020.  It will showcase the following Niagara wineries: Caroline Cellars, Strewn, Hare and Between the Lines.

For each week, a different designated local charity has been selected as the recipient of the proceeds we raise.  These charities are: (Oct 6th) Multiple Sclerosis Niagara; (Oct 13th) Niagara Falls Community Care; (Oct 20th) Kristen French Child Advocacy Centre Niagara, and (Oct 27th) No One Goes Hungry Niagara.

Wine packages are set at $65 per ticket and will include tasting notes, descriptions and characteristics of the selected wines, as well as recipes for food and wine paring.  The wine will be shipped directly from the wineries to the participants prior to the event.

These fundraising events will be featured through Zoom and will start at 7:00 p.m. every Tuesday in October.  A Zoom link will be sent to the participant’s email on the day of the event.  All participants are asked to arrive online no later than 7:00 p.m.

What you can expect from this one-hour event:

  1. The host will welcome the audience and introduce participants.  The representative of the designated charity will have a few minutes to promote their cause.
  2. The sponsor will be invited to participate in the tasting event, interacting with the winemaker and share his or her comments about the wine.
  3. Following the tasting, the moderator will open the discussion to the Zoom room participants, including a Q & A period, giving the audience an opportunity to interact.

All tickets sold for each event will be included in a draw of a free ticket for the following week’s event.  The first winning ticket will be drawn on October 6th and the winner will be announced live by the sponsor.

Please note: All purchases must be made by 9:00 p.m. on the Monday of the week preceding the date of the event.  For example, tickets for October 6th must be purchased no later than 9:00 p.m. on Monday, September 28th.

We look forward to sharing in this exciting new experience with you!  Should you have any further questions, don’t hesitate to contact us at: stevedainard64@gmail.com
